This mod introduces dynamic lighting to Minecraft, addressing the common issue of dark environments when holding or placing light-emitting items. Previously, players had to rely on placing torches or other light sources manually, which could be cumbersome during exploration or combat. Dynamic Lights automates this process, making torches, lanterns, enchanted gear, and other supported items emit light when held or placed, significantly improving visibility and immersion without requiring players to constantly manage their inventory for light sources. This feature is particularly beneficial for players who enjoy exploring caves, building in dark areas, or engaging in combat where a consistent light source is crucial for survival and situational awareness, ultimately leading to a more fluid and less interrupted gameplay experience. The functionality of Dynamic Lights is achieved by leveraging the light block mechanic introduced in Snapshot 21w13a. When a supported item is held by a player, worn by a mob, or placed in an item frame, the mod dynamically creates and manages light blocks in the game world. This means that items like torches, glowstone, or even enchanted equipment will cast light in their immediate vicinity, effectively illuminating the surroundings. The mod supports various light levels, allowing for customizable brightness, and includes special behaviors for enchanted items, such as enhanced light emission for items with Fire Aspect, Riptide, or Channeling enchantments. Furthermore, it can handle light emission from mobs and falling blocks if they are carrying a compatible item, adding another layer of dynamic environmental interaction. Dynamic Lights offers broad compatibility across various mod loaders and Minecraft versions. It is available for datapack, Fabric, Forge, NeoForged, and Quilt. The supported Minecraft versions range from 26.2-pre-2 up to 26.2. For server installations, the mod is required on the server side, making it a server-side solution. However, for single-player worlds, the mod version can be optionally installed on the client. Players joining a server that has Dynamic Lights installed will not need to install anything on their client-side, ensuring a seamless experience for multiplayer environments where the server manages the dynamic lighting. Installing Dynamic Lights is straightforward depending on your chosen method. If you are using it as a data pack, you should place the .zip file into your world's 'datapacks' folder. If you prefer to install it as a mod, simply drop the mod file into your 'mods' folder. For managing settings, resetting the pack, or uninstalling it, you can use the in-game commands /trigger tschipcraft.menu or /function tschipcraft:menu. Before launching the game, it is recommended to ensure that your Minecraft installation is correctly set up with the chosen mod loader and that all necessary dependencies, if any, are present to avoid potential conflicts or errors.
