Minecraft Snapshot Adds Unique Baby Mob Textures
Minecraft's latest snapshot updates baby mob textures and models, introduces craftable name tags, and redesigns adult rabbits.
Minecraft has updated its Java snapshot and Bedrock beta/preview with new features for players to test. The update introduces redesigned baby farm mobs and craftable name tags.
Versions & loaders
Minecraft players can now check out the redesigns in the latest Java snapshot and Bedrock beta, where the new textures and models for eight baby mobs are featured. This includes unique looks for wolf pups, kittens, piglets, calves, baby chickens, baby ocelots, lambs, and baby rabbits. Each baby mob's eyes are reduced to one pixel for an endearing appearance. In addition, variants like nine wolf pup types and 11 kitten types enhance diversity.
Performance & fixes
Alongside the aesthetic updates, Mojang has added new sounds for piglets, wolf pups, and kittens. Adult rabbits also see changes with fluffy tails and animations such as standing on hind legs and tilting their heads. These updates aim to enrich the visual and auditory experience in Minecraft.
Impact / What's next
By allowing players to craft name tags using paper and any metal nugget, Mojang increases customization accessibility. Previously, name tags were only discoverable through loot, fishing, or trading. No launch date is confirmed, but Mojang actively seeks player feedback to refine these features.
